Warner Bros. Interactive and PlaySide Studios have announced the upcoming launch of a new video game set in the world of HBO’s “Game of Thrones.” The game, titled “Game of Thrones: War for Westeros,” is a PC real-time strategy game that will draw inspiration from George R.R. Martin’s “A Song of Ice and Fire” novels, the source material for the popular TV series.
The game will allow players to lead the armies of House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, or the Night King in intense battles where trust is scarce and power is everything. Players will engage in epic real-time strategy battles, forge alliances, and deceive their rivals to secure victory. Each faction will offer unique strategies, heroes, armies, and mechanics, allowing players to deploy infantry, cavalry, siege engines, giants, and dragons in their quest for dominance.
“Game of Thrones: War for Westeros” will take players from the Wall to King’s Landing, allowing them to participate in skirmish matches or longer wars across the Seven Kingdoms. Every decision made by the player will have consequences, and the game promises to capture the essence of the political intrigue and power struggles seen in the TV series.
This game marks a significant departure from previous mobile-only titles based on the “Game of Thrones” IP. According to PlaySide Studios game director Ryan McMahon, “War for Westeros” will allow fans to immerse themselves in the world of Westeros and experience the power struggles firsthand.
“Game of Thrones: War for Westeros” is set to launch in 2026, giving fans the opportunity to rewrite the fate of the realm. For a glimpse of what’s to come, check out the trailer below.
