Governor Gavin Newsom has announced a state of emergency in Orange County following a hazardous chemical incident at an aerospace facility, which led to the evacuation of tens of thousands of residents on Saturday.
This emergency declaration enables California to enhance its response efforts as teams work to manage the critical situation and provide assistance to the affected families in the area.
Following this directive, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services and other state agencies have been tasked with providing support to Orange County and its local authorities as they handle the aftermath of the incident.
The declaration also grants access to additional emergency powers and resources, which may include using state-owned properties and fairgrounds as temporary accommodations for those evacuated, if necessary.
Authorities have not yet determined when residents will be allowed to return to their homes, as emergency teams continue to monitor the hazardous conditions around the aerospace facility.
This is a developing story.
