Gayle King has expressed her support for Savannah Guthrie as she returns to the Today show amid the ongoing investigation into her mother Nancy’s disappearance.
During the Breakthrough Prize event in Los Angeles on Saturday, April 18, King, 71, shared her thoughts with Us Weekly. She expressed her delight at seeing Savannah back on television, even under such challenging circumstances.
“We’re just glad Savannah’s back, but our hearts are still aching and breaking,” King said to Us. “There are no words to describe what she’s going through.”
The CBS Mornings host also urged anyone with information about Nancy’s whereabouts to step forward.
“I’m still hoping that somebody will do the right thing,” King continued. “Someone out there knows something, and it’s shocking to me that after seeing Savannah open up her heart, viewing the video we all saw, and the million-dollar reward, there hasn’t been a resolution in this case.” She concluded, “So I am just here wishing her well and cheering. I’m glad that she’s back.”
Savannah, 54, returned to the Today show on April 6 after a two-month hiatus following her mother Nancy’s disappearance, reported missing in Arizona on February 1.
“Good morning, welcome to Today on this Monday morning. We are so glad you started your week with us, and it is good to be home,” Savannah told viewers during her first episode back.

During her time away, Savannah traveled from New York to Arizona to be closer to the investigation into her mother’s disappearance. Hoda Kotb filled in for her on the Today show during this period.
Savannah, along with her siblings Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, have been actively seeking help from the public to locate their mother. They have offered a $1 million reward for information that leads to her recovery.
In a video shared on social media by Savannah, Annie, and Camron, they pleaded for Nancy’s safe return. “We received your message and we understand,” Savannah said in a video shared on February 7, with her siblings by her side. “We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”
On February 10, the FBI released photos and video footage of a masked individual at Nancy’s home. However, no suspects have been officially identified since her disappearance.
