Despite the potential benefits of generative AI, it is crucial to address the environmental consequences associated with its rapid growth. Legislation and regulations around e-waste disposal are lacking in many countries, highlighting the need for greater accountability among AI developers and tech companies. By implementing responsible recycling practices and prioritizing sustainability in AI development, we can mitigate the impact of generative AI on the e-waste crisis and work towards a more environmentally-friendly future.
