Reports from officials confirm that a large tornado swept through a city just south of Chicago, causing significant damage.
The tornado struck Kankakee County, located approximately 47.5 miles south of Chicago, and inflicted major destruction on the south side of Kankakee City, as per Trooper Jayme Bufford, a spokesperson for Illinois State Police.
Footage shared on social media captures the tornado tearing through a field of farmland near the local airport, with storm chasers following closely in their vehicles.
