Mohamed Hadid, father of model Gigi Hadid, seemingly mistook AI-generated images for real photos of his daughter at the 2026 Met Gala. On May 4, Mohamed, aged 77, shared a collage on Instagram that appeared to show Gigi, 31, in a white and gold gown at the prestigious event. The origins of these images remain unclear, as noted in social media screenshots before the post was deleted. He captioned it, “She looks like she came out of a frame from the museum. A classic Hadid moment.”
Mohamed is the father of Gigi, Bella (29), and Anwar (26) with his ex-wife, Yolanda Hadid, a former star of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. He also has two daughters, Marielle (45) and Alana (40), with his first wife, Mary Butler, and a son, Aydan Nix (23), from a brief relationship with Terri Hatfield Dull after his marriage to Yolanda ended.
Despite the mix-up, Gigi did attend the Met Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday. At the event, she dazzled in a sheer black Miu Miu gown adorned with crystals, patchwork flames, and floral designs.
In a red carpet interview with Vogue, Gigi expressed her enthusiasm for the Met Gala. “I love the Met [Gala] because I really feel like, with the themes, we get to do basically like … it’s our version of a high school art class with everyone we work with,” she said. “You get an assignment and it’s different, because it’s not just to make a garment to sell, and I love that process.”
She also shared her excitement for costume-inspired creations, noting that her ensemble was influenced by Miu Miu collections from 1998 and 2011.

Just two days before the gala, Gigi’s entire dress was crafted directly on her body.
“We all sat in a hotel room two days ago, literally, and Scotch-taped the patches onto me in a way that felt celebratory,” she explained to Vogue. “It’s built on the body. The body is the canvas.”
Gigi was a highlight on the red carpet, and she believes her daughter, Khai, aged 5, would love the outfit. “She loves anything that’s sparkly. She loves a dressup. And she loves a collage moment,” Gigi said about Khai, her daughter with Zayn Malik. “Me and the Miu Miu team collaged this on to me. She’ll want the patches and she’ll want to place them.”
