Amazon has officially revealed a sneak peek at the upcoming live-action “God of War” TV series, which is currently in production in Vancouver. The show will follow the story of the popular video game franchise, focusing on the adventures of Kratos, the god of war, and his young son, Atreus.
In the newly released image, fans get their first look at Ryan Hurst as Kratos and Callum Vinson as Atreus. The cast also includes Max Parker as Heimdall, Ólafur Darri Ólafsson as Thor, Mandy Patinkin as Odin, Alastair Duncan as Mimir, Danny Woodburn and Jeff Gulka as brothers Brok and Sindri, and Ed Skrein as Baldur.
The series will follow the narrative of the most recent “God of War” games, where Kratos must navigate the complexities of parenthood while battling against the gods of the Norse pantheon. The storyline revolves around Kratos and Atreus embarking on a journey to fulfill the final wish of Kratos’ late wife, Faye. Along the way, they both learn valuable lessons about godhood and humanity.
“God of War” has been greenlit for two seasons by Amazon, with Ronald D. Moore serving as the writer, executive producer, and showrunner through his Tall Ship Productions. Frederick E.O. Toye is set to direct the first two episodes of the series.
Other executive producers on the project include Maril Davis, Cory Barlog, Naren Shankar, Matthew Graham, and more. The series is a co-production between Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, PlayStation Productions, and Tall Ship Productions.
