Nicholas Pileggi Remembers Nora Ephron
It has been almost a decade since the passing of Hollywood legend Nora Ephron, who died in 2012 at the age of 71 after a secret battle with leukemia. Despite her absence, her presence is still felt by her close friend Nicholas Pileggi.
Pileggi fondly recalls the time when he and Ephron decided to purchase their home together. “We bought this place about 30 years ago. We were coming out here a lot, working on movies and staying in hotels. One day she said to me, ‘We need to get a place here.’ And that was that,” he reminisces.
Although Ephron may no longer be physically present, Pileggi continues to stay active in his career. He recently penned the screenplay for the new Robert De Niro gangster film, The Alto Knights, which is currently showing in theaters.
However, despite the star-studded cast and crew, The Alto Knights has not been met with favorable reviews. One critic expressed disappointment, stating, “On paper, the gangster picture The Alto Knights has all the elements of a success. It stars Robert De Niro, currently on a hot streak… But the runes have already declared that The Alto Knights will flop.”
