Google has recently released Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash to a wider audience, introducing enhanced video content understanding capabilities.
The stable versions of Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash are now available, along with a preview of Gemini 2.5 Flash-Lite, touted as Google’s most efficient and fastest 2.5 model yet.
In addition to these new AI models, Google has started rolling out the functionality to upload video clips for Gemini to analyze and interpret. Users can now add video clips from their Gallery using the existing + button.
Upon processing the video clip, Gemini enables users to ask questions about the content, similar to how they could interact with images previously.
Gemini video availability
Although the video upload feature is not yet available on all devices, some users have reported access to this functionality. Reports from 9to5Google showcase impressive results, including AI-generated descriptions of scenic walks through woods.
Despite being in the early stages, Gemini can already analyze YouTube videos when a link is provided. While direct video recording within the Gemini app is not yet supported, it is expected to be included in future updates.
About a month ago, Google introduced Gemini Live for free, a feature that allows real-time scene analysis through the phone’s camera viewfinder.
