Google and Salcit Technologies Collaborate to Use Sound Signals for Early Disease Detection

Given the advancements in AI technology, it comes as no surprise that Google, along with other organizations, is exploring the use of sound signals to predict early signs of disease. According to Bloomberg, Google has utilized its foundation AI model, trained on 300 million audio samples containing coughs, sniffles, and labored breathing, to detect symptoms such as those of tuberculosis.

Recently, Google has partnered with Salcit Technologies, an Indian respiratory healthcare AI startup, to integrate this technology into smartphones. This collaboration aims to provide assistance to high-risk populations in regions with limited access to healthcare services.

This initiative marks Google’s continued efforts to digitize human senses. In addition to leveraging sound signals for disease detection, Google’s venture arm has also invested in startups that use AI to detect illnesses through olfactory cues.
