Google Pixel 6 Pro Camera Issues Continue in Android 16

The Pixel 6 Pro’s camera continues to malfunction even after Google’s latest Android 16 update, as per recent reports. Users have been experiencing crashes while trying to record videos on the phone ever since the Android 16 beta was launched six months ago. Even with the stable release in June, the issue persisted. The August update was expected to address this problem, but unfortunately, the issue remains unresolved.

According to Android Headlines, users encounter a warning message stating, “A problem occurred, part of the video may not have been saved,” followed by a crash when switching between lenses while recording 4K video at 30fps on the Pixel 6 Pro. Surprisingly, Google has not acknowledged the existence of this issue, leaving users frustrated with no effective solutions in sight, such as clearing the camera app’s cache or performing a factory reset.

Since the problem extends beyond the Pixel 6 Pro’s warranty period (the phone was released in October 2021), it cannot be attributed to a hardware fault. Despite the security update for Android 16 that addressed a significant vulnerability allowing remote access to Pixel phones, users are still awaiting the highly anticipated Material 3 Expressive redesign expected to debut with the upcoming Pixel 10 series by the end of August.

While the security update and design enhancements are significant, Pixel 6 Pro users are primarily concerned about having a stable camera app that does not crash during video recording. The need for a functional camera app takes precedence over new features and security patches, highlighting the importance of addressing existing issues for an optimal user experience.
