Googlebook Glowbar Previews Pixel 11 Pixel Glow

In a recent Android news release, Google unveiled a new line of laptops, hinting at a possible upcoming feature for the Pixel 11. The Googlebook could offer an early preview of this feature.

Prior to the Android Show: I/O Edition, leaks suggested that Google’s new laptop would feature a lighting system on its lid, now confirmed as the ‘Glowbar’. It appears the Pixel 11 series might incorporate a similar feature.

References to a new feature named ‘Pixel Glow’ have been discovered in code. This feature is described as providing “subtle light and color on the back of your device to notify you of significant activities when it’s face down”.

Given the similarities between Pixel Glow and the Googlebook’s Glowbar, there is a clearer picture of what the Pixel 11’s new feature might entail.

The Glowbar is an LED strip light situated near the laptop’s lid edge, where users place their thumb to open it. The strip transitions from blue to red, reflecting a full spectrum in between. A teaser video is available below.

Google has disclosed little else about the Glowbar, except that it will be a standard feature on all Googlebooks, described as “a statement that is both functional and beautiful”.

The Glowbar could provide significant insight into what Pixel Glow might look like. Its placement on the Googlebook suggests it could be integrated into the phone’s camera bar rather than the ‘G’ logo on the back.

While CAD-based render leaks of the Pixel 11 don’t display Pixel Glow lights, this is likely because they are concealed. However, there’s no assurance that this feature will be included in this year’s Pixel flagship models.

Despite this, there is optimism that it will be, especially as Googlebooks featuring the Glowbar are expected to arrive in late 2026.
