Gemini AI on TV

9:56 AM PDT · September 22, 2025

Google has officially announced that its AI assistant, Gemini, is being integrated into Google TV. Starting this week, users will have the opportunity to engage in natural, conversational interactions with the AI, enhancing their viewing experience.

This ambitious rollout will ultimately extend Gemini’s capabilities to over 300 million active Google TV and Android TV OS-powered devices, providing a wealth of interactive options for users.

Gemini is designed to facilitate conversations around TV content, helping users discover shows they might enjoy based on different interests, summarize past seasons of favorite series, or assist in finding lost movie titles or reviews to aid in viewing choices.

What’s particularly exciting is that Gemini also opens the door for a multitude of inquiries beyond the TV realm. Parents can use it for homework assistance, families might plan vacations, and individuals can explore new skills, among countless other possibilities.

Importantly, Google clarifies that the integration of Gemini will not eliminate the traditional features available through the non-AI Google Assistant. Users can still perform all existing commands via the familiar assistant interface.

The rollout of Gemini begins on the TCL QM9K series starting today. Following this initial launch, we can expect Gemini to appear on devices like the Google TV Streamer, Walmart’s onn 4K Pro, as well as various models from Hisense and TCL later this year. Enhancements and new features will be progressively introduced as time goes on.
