Republicans Accuse AOC of Fearmongering in Upstate New York
During a recent stop in Rep. Elise Stefanik’s upstate district, Republicans have accused Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of fearmongering and unwelcome behavior.
Ocasio-Cortez criticized Stefanik at a town-hall event in Plattsburgh, mocking her for taking a farewell tour of the district when she thought she was going to become the US ambassador to the United Nations.

“Elise did her farewell tour, and I think it’s time to finish the job,” AOC exclaimed to a supportive crowd at the historic Strand Theater.
“Let’s show her the door. She’s not welcome here anymore,” Ocasio-Cortez declared on the stage, almost 300 miles away from her own district.
Stefanik, whose ambassador nomination was withdrawn by President Trump, is now running for governor.
“AOC and [Dem North Country Rep.] Paul Tonko may love trying to tax and spend their own constituents to death, but that doesn’t mean they should come to the North Country and peddle the same, tired failing Democrat agenda,” Plattsburgh state Sen. Dan Stec (R-Warren) told The Post.
“Rather than continuing to spread disinformation and fearmongering over President Trump’s historically significant legislative achievement, they should be telling Kathy Hochul and legislative Democrats to rein in Albany’s bloated state budget,” he added.

Other top GOP members dismissed Ocasio-Cortez’s visit, with a representative for the New York Republican Committee taking a jab at AOC for claiming to be a “Bronx girl” despite growing up in Westchester County.
“The North County is Elise Country, and it’s Trump Country – and it’ll stay that way,” the GOP representative asserted.
Ocasio-Cortez, dressed in a white button-down shirt and black cuffed pants, professed her love for the Adirondacks and claimed to be an avid backpacker.

“The Republican Party will never recover from this,” Erie County GOP Chair Michael Kracker quipped on Twitter.
A representative for Stefanik welcomed AOC’s visit as a “political gift” and believed it would strengthen Stefanik’s support in Upstate New York.
The event, co-hosted by Tonko, highlighted Ocasio-Cortez as a key figure in the Democratic party’s present and future.
“They say, ‘Well, she’s the future of the party.’ I say, ‘She’s the today of the party,'” Tonko remarked.
