Armed Abductions and Robberies Shake Old Town and Little Village Neighborhoods
CHICAGO — Two separate incidents of armed abductions and robberies have shaken the Old Town neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon. Chicago police reports indicate that two suspects are currently in custody in connection with the crimes.
These incidents are unrelated to a similar abduction and robbery that took place in Little Village on Thursday morning.
The first robbery occurred around 4:40 p.m. when a 28-year-old man was walking in an alley behind the 100 block of West Division. He was approached by a blue sedan, possibly a Chevy, from which two armed men emerged. The suspects forced the man into their vehicle, where they proceeded to rob him of valuables and forced him to make electronic money transfers before releasing him unharmed.
Just ten minutes later, another incident took place in the 1200 block of North Wells. This time, two armed men forced a 26-year-old man into a sedan, possibly an Impala, and demanded his belongings as they drove him around. The victim managed to escape in the 1000 block of North Wells, sustaining a minor leg injury in the process.
Following the second incident, police were able to locate and apprehend two suspects. Charges were pending as of Thursday morning.
In a separate incident in Little Village early Thursday morning, a couple was abducted by armed robbers as they entered a restaurant on the 3400 block of West 26th Street. The robbers forced the couple into the restaurant, robbed the business, and then proceeded to rob the victims, driving them to various ATMs to withdraw cash before releasing them unharmed.
The police are currently searching for five Hispanic men who were involved in the abduction, driving a dark blue Infiniti SUV.
