In the early hours of Wednesday morning, a brazen bump-and-run robbery took place in the heart of River North, Chicago. Four masked gunmen carried out the robbery, firing a shot into the pavement during the confrontation. The incident occurred at around 3:52 a.m. on East Ontario Street, close to the temporary Bally’s casino.
According to Chicago police, a 36-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man were sitting inside their vehicle when a gray sedan rear-ended them. Four individuals wearing ski masks emerged from the car, with at least two of them brandishing guns at the victims. Fortunately, no injuries were reported despite one of the robbers firing a round into the ground.
The male victim’s phone was stolen by the gunmen, who also forced him to unlock it before fleeing the scene. The extent of other stolen property is currently unknown. After the robbery, the perpetrators sped off westbound on Ontario Street before turning southbound on State Street, as captured by video footage.
Chicago Police Department did not disclose a detailed description of the robbers involved in the incident. Investigations are ongoing to apprehend the suspects and bring them to justice.
