Gunman Shoots Two CTA Passengers in Portage Park
In a shocking incident late Sunday night, a gunman opened fire on a CTA bus in Portage Park, injuring two passengers. The suspect is still at large, and the investigation is ongoing.
The shooting took place on a westbound bus in the 4800 block of West Belmont around 11:46 p.m. Reports indicate that the shooter engaged in a heated argument with another man on the bus before exiting and firing multiple shots at the victim.
The primary target, a 40-year-old man, sustained gunshot wounds to his abdomen and leg. He was rushed to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and is currently in fair condition. Additionally, a 22-year-old man on the bus was also struck by gunfire, suffering a grazed wound to his ankle. He was taken to Community First Hospital and is reported to be in good condition.
Eyewitnesses at the scene described the suspect as a Black male with long black hair, wearing a white hoodie or shirt paired with dark pants. Following the shooting, the gunman fled on foot, evading capture by law enforcement.
