After delivering a low blow to Gunther on SmackDown, a WWE Superstar reached out to him on social media today. This wrestler is the spouse of WWE Women’s Champion Chelsea Green.
Matt Cardona faced off against Gunther on last Friday’s episode of the blue brand. Gunther interrupted a segment involving SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis and Chelsea Green, dismissing Green’s concerns and questioning Aldis about the inclusion of Kevin Owens in the number one contender’s match at SummerSlam 2026.

Cardona intervened to defend his wife, resorting to a low blow against the former World Heavyweight Champion. However, Gunther, who once led Imperium, emerged victorious in their singles match. Following his defeat, the 41-year-old Cardona posted a snapshot of the low blow incident on social media.
“Close, but no cigar…and I love cigars. #SmackDown,” he wrote.
Chelsea Green won the WWE Women’s Championship at SummerSlam 2026 but later sustained a broken orbital bone on SmackDown. Nick Aldis informed her that she had thirty days to be medically cleared to retain the title. Previously, Rhea Ripley had secured the championship at WrestleMania 42 but suffered a knee injury soon after and has since undergone surgery.
Gunther Reacts to Major WWE Star’s Return at SummerSlam
Gunther, a SmackDown wrestler, was furious following Kevin Owens’ unexpected comeback at SummerSlam 2026.
Initially, the match between Sami Zayn and Finn Balor was set as a Triple Threat at the Premium Live Event (PLE). Nick Aldis later announced Kevin Owens’ participation, turning it into a Fatal 4-Way. Owens triumphed at SummerSlam, becoming the number one contender and is set to challenge CM Punk for the title next week on SmackDown.
Following Owens’ victory, Gunther, 38, expressed his frustration and targeted Owens with personal remarks.
