On Halloween night in 2024, two young teens in Christchurch had a terrifying experience while out trick or treating. A man, identified as Ean Henry, parked his car next to them and began engaging in indecent behavior.
The girls were walking through the streets of Shirley when they noticed Henry parked with his front window down, exposing himself and masturbating. Horrified, they ran to a nearby driveway for safety.
Police were called, and Henry admitted to his actions, stating that he wanted the girls to see him. He appeared in court for sentencing on charges of indecent behavior.
Despite Henry’s claims of remorse and willingness to attend restorative justice, the judge expressed doubt about his sincerity. The girls declined the opportunity for restorative justice, as it would have been too traumatic for them.
Henry was sentenced to three months of home detention. While the court acknowledged that he is seeking counseling to address his issues, his behavior was deemed unacceptable.
