Reports from authorities indicate that a 54-year-old Jewish man was subjected to a vile attack on a Brooklyn train earlier this week. The assailant not only physically assaulted the victim but also made antisemitic remarks and forcibly took his yarmulke.
The incident took place on a southbound N train passing through the Atlantic Avenue-Barclays Center station at around 10:45 a.m. The masked perpetrator repeatedly punched the victim while spewing hateful comments before fleeing with the religious headwear.
Following the attack, the victim was taken to SUNY Downstate Medical Center where he is currently in stable condition. The NYPD’s Hate Crime Task Force is actively investigating the incident.
The suspect is described as a man with a dark complexion and slim build, last seen wearing a gray sweatshirt, khaki pants, black jacket, black surgical facemask, black shoes, and carrying an orange bookbag.
This disturbing incident comes on the heels of other recent hate crimes targeting the Jewish community, including a car ramming at the Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters and assaults on individuals in Queens and Brooklyn. Swastikas were also discovered in a park frequented by Jewish children.
