Ruslan Baginskiy Celebrates 10 Years of Creativity and Resilience
As Ruslan Baginskiy marks its 10th anniversary, the Kyiv-based brand has shown remarkable growth and resilience in the face of adversity. Despite the challenges posed by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the brand has continued to thrive both creatively and commercially.
The brand, known for its iconic hats worn by celebrities like Beyoncé and Madonna, is set to make a big splash at Galeries Lafayette. The takeover will include all 12 windows facing out to Boulevard Haussmann, a pop-up at the store’s entrance, and a larger shop-in-shop under the historic cupola.
Entitled “Ruslan Baginskiy Tales,” the display in each window tells a whimsical story that highlights the brand’s commitment to traditional craftsmanship and contemporary culture. From videos of artisans weaving hats to playful color-blocked designs inspired by Kazimir Malevich, each window offers a glimpse into the brand’s unique narrative.
Ruslan Baginskiy himself sees his hats as a way to showcase the creativity and culture of Ukraine to the world. Named a cultural ambassador by Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2023, Baginskiy is committed to sharing the rich heritage of his homeland through his designs.
Behind the brand’s success are key figures like co-founder Petro Yaskinsky, Victoria Semerei who oversees the commercial side, and Anastasia Padalka, who handles communications. Baginskiy’s mother, Lilia Baginska, has been with the brand since its inception and currently oversees production in Ukraine.
Despite the ongoing challenges of the war, the team at Ruslan Baginskiy remains undeterred. As they navigate the complexities of international travel and logistics, they continue to push forward with a spirit of resilience and determination.
As the brand celebrates a decade of creativity and success, it is a moment for both reflection and celebration. Despite the hardships faced along the way, Ruslan Baginskiy has emerged stronger and more determined than ever to share the beauty and culture of Ukraine with the world.
