Kit Connor Opens Up About Filming Intimate Scenes for āHeartstopperā Season 3
Kit Connor, the 20-year-old star of Netflixās popular series āHeartstopper,ā recently shared insights into the extensive process of filming intimate scenes for the upcoming third season. In a candid interview with The Sunday Times, Connor revealed that working closely with his co-star Joe Locke made the experience more comfortable. He also mentioned that they have been collaborating with the same intimacy coordinator since the show’s inception.
Describing the progression of their on-screen intimacy, Connor shared, āWeāve been taking baby steps. Season 1, he would be there making sure that we were comfortable holding hands. And now weāre doing the sex scenes. We shot a lot of footage for them. Not much actually ended up in the show. But we shot the sex scenes for about seven hours!ā
The actor, known for his role as Nick Nelson in the coming-of-age series, noted that both the show and its cast have matured over time. āI wouldnāt say that weāve outgrown the show because the show is growing in itself,ā Connor explained.
In addition to discussing his work on āHeartstopper,ā Connor also touched upon his upcoming Broadway debut as Romeo alongside Rachel Zeglerās Juliet. He emphasized his focus on delivering a stellar performance rather than getting caught up in potential celebrity interactions.
Reflecting on the challenges of fame, Connor shared his discomfort with being recognized in public. He and Locke have been navigating their newfound celebrity status, acknowledging the limitations it imposes on their everyday activities.
Connor also addressed his experience of coming out as bisexual in 2023, revealing that he feels relieved to have moved past the intense scrutiny he faced on social media. He expressed contentment with where he is now, stating, āIāve moved on and I feel much better for it.ā
Sharing his perspective on social issues, Connor spoke out against toxic masculinity, labeling it as ācompletely alienā to him. He dismissed individuals like Andrew Tate, emphasizing the positive representation of diverse characters in āHeartstopperā and the show’s ability to offer young viewers an alternative viewpoint.
