Heirlome’s Stephanie Suberville Unveils Vibrant Pre-Fall Collection
Stephanie Suberville, the talented designer behind Heirlome, has had an eventful year filled with highs and lows. Recently named a runner-up of the prestigious CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, Suberville felt a weight lifted off her shoulders, allowing her to approach her pre-fall collection with a sense of freedom and creativity.
Embracing a colorful palette and a light-hearted approach, Suberville’s latest collection showcases her intuitive design process and personal style. “I design a lot for myself and what I would wear,” she explains. “My mindset was very free during the creation of this collection.”
Instead of a common theme running through the pieces, Suberville opted for striking red dresses as standout pieces. One dress was intricately knitted from bias-cut strips of fabric, while another was crafted from supple silk without a shoulder seam, allowing the fabric to elegantly drape against the body. The addition of streamers suspended from the waist adds a unique touch, offering versatility in styling.
Another standout piece is an ivory skirt with side gathers, draped effortlessly over pants, showcasing Suberville’s meticulous attention to detail and innovative design techniques. The suspended waistband creates a visually striking silhouette, adding a touch of elegance to the ensemble.
Suberville’s signature touch is evident in the collection’s jerseys, which are artfully pulled and twisted into knots, adding a dimensional and textural element to the garments. The knits in the collection draw inspiration from the unique art created for the brand by Arnulfo Vazquez Rodriguez, an award-winning artisan from Jalisco. Suberville recalls Rodriguez surprising her with abstract and psychedelic designs, taking the collection in a fresh and unexpected direction.
The infusion of Rodriguez’s art adds a groovy and eclectic vibe to the collection, setting it apart from previous seasons and showcasing Suberville’s willingness to experiment and evolve as a designer.
