The Wildlife Photographer of the Year contest is a prestigious event that attracts photographers from all over the world. This year, the competition received nearly 60,000 entries from 117 countries, showcasing the beauty and diversity of wildlife on our planet. Out of these thousands of submissions, only 100 finalists are chosen by the judges to compete for the coveted title.

To make the selection process more inclusive, the Natural History Museum, which hosts the competition, has introduced the People’s Choice Award. This award gives the public a chance to vote for their favorite image out of 25 stunning photographs that capture incredible moments in the animal kingdom. From a tenacious honey badger in Botswana determined to snack on a porcupine to a playful wolf pack in India, these images showcase the raw beauty and behavior of wildlife around the globe.

Voting for the People’s Choice Award is open until January 29, so make sure to visit the museum’s website to view all the photos and cast your vote for the most captivating image.

Some of the standout images include “Spiked” by David Northall, which shows a bloodied yet determined honey badger covered in spines returning to finish off a Cape porcupine. Another striking image is “Snuffling Sengi” by Piotr Naskrecki, featuring a mouse-like animal with a long nose sniffing the forest floor. Each photograph tells a unique story and offers a glimpse into the fascinating world of wildlife.

Other notable entries include “Curious Connection” by Nora Milligan, capturing a chimpanzee pausing to look down as its family moves across the forest floor, and “Earth and Sky” by Francisco Negroni, showing a double lenticular cloud illuminated by the lava emitted from the Villarrica volcano in Chile.
