Lisa Murkowski is once again stirring the political pot.
The Senator from Alaska is now attempting to stall the DOGE cuts package as the clock ticks down on its potential passage into law. Last month, the House of Representatives approved a bill that aims to formalize $9.4 billion in spending cuts. The Senate has until July 18 to pass the DOGE cuts and send it to President Trump for his signature.
While only 51 votes are required in the Senate for approval, the so-called RINOs are once more putting a wrench in the works of this legislative process.
On Tuesday, Susan Collins, Murkowskiâs fellow Republican and Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee, hinted at possible delays due to proposed revisions to the package. âIâll be meeting with members of the Appropriations Committee to discuss changes in it. For my part, I believe it needs some significant changes,â Collins remarked to reporters, as reported by CNN.
Collins expressed doubt about the wisdom of terminating certain programs, such as maternal and child health initiatives, which are designed to provide critical vitamins to malnourished pregnant women and food supplements for children. âI canât imagine why we would want to terminate that program,â she stated.
As the situation unfolds, reports on Wednesday indicated that Murkowski plans to initiate another âvote-a-ramaâ as urgency mounts.
MURKOWSKI reiterates she wants changes to the rescissions package.
Predicts the amendment process âwill be fun.â Get ready for another vote-a-rama!
