Gunfire Erupts at Fort Stewart: A Tale of Valor Amid Chaos
On a seemingly ordinary Wednesday, a catastrophic event unfolded at Fort Stewart, Georgia, as 28-year veteran Army Sergeant Quornelius Radford unleashed gunfire, injuring five individuals in the process.
In a press conference following this shocking incident, Brigadier General John Lubas lauded the immediate response of fellow soldiers who bravely tackled Radford, averting what could have been a far more tragic situation. “Soldiers in the area that witnessed the shooting sprang into action without hesitation, subduing the assailant and allowing law enforcement to take him into custody,” Lubas stated, highlighting their swift heroism.
Secretary of the Army Dan Driscoll echoed these sentiments, expressing immense pride in the soldiers’ actions. “I, along with the administration and President Trump, could not be more proud of them. They embody the finest qualities of this nation. They represent the very best of America and of our Army,” he remarked.

In his remarks, Secretary Driscoll emphasized, “It is crucial that we take a moment to recognize the heroism of these six soldiers. Imagine this: they were unarmed, yet they charged at an armed individual who was actively shooting at their comrades. One soldier bravely tackled the assailant, while another subdued him until federal law enforcement arrived.”
“Moreover, the remaining soldiers, drawing from years of rigorous training, swiftly began administering care to the injured, demonstrating their preparedness for such emergencies. Coincidentally, their unit had recently conducted a mass casualty exercise, which trained them for precisely this type of crisis,” he added.
