NFL draft expert Mel Kiper recently shared his thoughts on Carson Beck’s future in the league, painting a somewhat grim picture for the quarterback. Beck made a significant move from Georgia to Miami for his final year of college football, and now finds himself preparing for the national championship game against the No. 1 Indiana Hoosiers.

This game marks a major milestone for Beck, especially considering the setback he faced in the 2024 SEC Championship game that caused his draft stock to plummet. Despite his impressive performance this season, Kiper believes Beck may not have a bright future as a professional quarterback.

During an appearance on ESPN’s Get Up, Kiper expressed his doubts about Beck’s potential in the NFL. He mentioned that Beck could potentially fall into the fourth or fifth quarterback spot in the draft, behind prominent names like Mendoza, Dante Moore, Ty Simpson, and Trinidad Chambliss. Kiper pointed out Beck’s need to improve on his interceptions, highlighting his 23 interceptions over the last two years. Despite his progress this season, Kiper suggested that Beck might end up as a career backup in the league, projecting him to be selected late on day two or early on day three of the draft.

In the 2025 season, Beck showcased his talent by throwing for 3,581 yards, 29 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions with an impressive 73.3% completion rate in 15 games for Miami. Prior to his transfer, Beck started for the Georgia Bulldogs for two seasons, amassing 11,493 passing yards, 87 touchdowns, and 31 interceptions with a 69.7% completion rate.

One of Beck’s standout moments came in the Fiesta Bowl showdown against Ole Miss, where he scored a crucial touchdown run in the final minute to secure the victory for Miami. Head coach Mario Cristobal commended Beck’s performance, praising his leadership and execution during critical plays.

The highly anticipated national championship game featuring Beck and the Hurricanes against the Indiana Hoosiers is scheduled for Monday, Jan. 19, at 7:30 p.m. (ET). As Beck prepares for this pivotal matchup, his performance on the field will undoubtedly play a significant role in shaping his future in the NFL.

In conclusion, while Beck faces uncertainty about his draft stock and potential as a pro quarterback, his determination and skill set have the potential to surprise critics and secure a successful career in the league. The upcoming championship game will serve as a crucial opportunity for Beck to showcase his talent and solidify his place in the world of professional football.
