Mekhi Phifer Joins Season 2 of “High Potential” on ABC
Mekhi Phifer has signed on to join the cast of “High Potential” Season 2 on ABC in a recurring guest star role, according to exclusive information obtained by Variety.
While details about Phifer’s character are being kept under wraps, it has been revealed that he will be playing a role involved in major crimes. Phifer will be appearing alongside series lead Kaitlin Olson, as well as other cast members including Daniel Sunjata, Javicia Leslie, Deniz Akdeniz, Amirah J, Matthew Lamb, Steve Howey, and Judy Reyes.
Phifer has had a successful career in television, having starred in nearly 150 episodes of “ER” and leading shows like “Frequency” on The CW, “Lie to Me” on Fox, “House of Lies” on Showtime, and “Truth Be Told” on Apple TV+. In film, Phifer is best known for his role in “8 Mile” and has appeared in various other projects such as “Dawn of the Dead,” “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer,” the “Divergent” films, and “O.”
The talented actor is represented by Gersh and Brookside Artist Management.
“High Potential” made its debut on ABC in September 2024 and was well-received by audiences and critics alike, leading to the network renewing it for a second season in January. The series, based on the French show “Haut Potentiel Intellectuel,” is set to return this fall airing on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and streaming the next day on Hulu.
Created by Drew Goddard, the show is executive produced by Sarah Esberg through Goddard Textiles, with Todd Harthan serving as showrunner. In addition to starring, Kaitlin Olson also executive produces, alongside Marc Halsey. The series is produced by 20th Television, where Harthan has an overall deal.
