Herricks Boys Soccer Team Aims for Long Island Championship
The Herricks boys soccer team is on a mission to secure a Long Island championship after claiming victory in Nassau for the first time in 20 years. Head coach Adriana Mendrinos is proud of her teamâs resilience and determination, highlighting the same group of kids who have shown tremendous growth and leadership throughout the season.
Mendrinos, a former forward at Queens College, is also breaking barriers as one of the few women coaching boys at her level. She draws inspiration from other successful female coaches in the area and is proud to contribute to the legacy of women in boys soccer on Long Island.
Chasing the Title
The road to the Long Island championship is challenging, with the Herricks team set to face Suffolk champion Commack in the upcoming match. Despite the tough competition and being in enemy territory, the boys in blue are confident in their abilities and determined to showcase their skills.
Senior goalkeeper Brayden Haase has been a standout player, leading the team with a five-game shutout streak. The teamâs offense has also been thriving, with senior center-midfielder Aidan Bernic praising the chemistry and heart that drive their performance.
Unity and Determination
The strong bond among the players extends to Coach Mendrinos, who has nurtured many of them since their middle school days. Her guidance and high expectations have shaped the team into a cohesive unit ready to take on any challenge.
As they approach the Long Island championship game, the Herricks team remains focused on their ultimate goal of securing the title for the first time in decades. With a strong sense of belief and determination, they are ready to defy the odds and make their mark in school history.
From the assistant coachâs mantra of âLetâs shock the worldâ to the teamâs unwavering belief in themselves, Herricks is poised to leave a lasting impression on the soccer community.
