Hillary Clinton has faced severe criticism for appearing tone deaf after suggesting that white men of a “particular religion” share some responsibility for the challenges facing the United States.
The former Secretary of State was labeled as spreading “evil” following her comments during a recent appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”
“The notion that we can rewind history and recreate a society that never existed, dominated by, let’s be frank: White men of a certain faith, a certain viewpoint, and a particular ideology is seriously damaging to our collective goals,” Clinton stated.
“We were making progress… We were on the right track,” she added.
Responses to her comments were immediate, with many social media users criticizing her for further inciting hatred, particularly in light of the recent assassination of Charlie Kirk in Utah on September 10.
“Two weeks after the assassination of Charlie Kirk, Hillary Clinton makes a point to remind everyone that white Christian men are harmful and damaging to America. It’s evident that they have no intention of cooling the temperature. They are fully aware they are encouraging these incidents,” a user tweeted.
“Hillary Clinton makes yet another call for hostility toward white Christian men – the relentless targeting of large segments of society is dehumanizing and perilous. Her emphasis on Christianity is alarming, especially since she avoids explicitly naming the religion,” another complained on X.
“The dissemination of evil continues,” remarked one user on X.
Another critic noted Clinton did not come off as very “egalitarian.”
“Should we take it to mean that while all Americans’ contributions are welcomed, some are deemed more acceptable than others?” the individual added.
In other parts of the interview, Clinton indicated that certain conservatives seemed inclined to “reverse the progress made on equality.”
“There are individuals who are genuinely alarmed by the changes in our nation,” she stated.
“The principle of ‘we the people,’ asserting that all men and women are created equal, seems to be under attack from right-wing factions aiming to undo the advancements made, erasing significant chapters of our history—slavery, suffrage—anything that poses an inconvenience, you know, removing it from museums, erasing it from national parks.”
Roger Severino, vice president of domestic policy at the Heritage Foundation, swiftly condemned Clinton’s statements, stating to Fox News that she was out of touch.
“For Hillary to declare that conservative white Christian men are the source of America’s problems while the nation is grieving the loss of Charlie Kirk is more than just tone deaf,” Severino asserted.
“It reinforces what many of us have suspected: that Hillary views millions of Americans as part of her ‘basket of deplorables’ based on their gender, race, and heartfelt religious beliefs.”
