According to reports, Hudzan was walking southbound in a crosswalk at Chicago Avenue and Oakley when she was struck by a 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross at around 8:48 a.m. Witnesses at the scene stated that the SUV stopped at a red light, made a right turn, hit Hudzan, and then proceeded to drive over her before fleeing east on Chicago Avenue, possibly turning north on Damen Avenue.
The vehicle involved in the hit-and-run has been identified with license plate DH30095, which was reported stolen in Old Town on November 24. It is unclear if the owner, residing in the 2300 block of West Grand, has since recovered the vehicle.
