The Chicago Police Department is currently on the hunt for a suspect linked to a series of break-ins in Rogers Park that occurred early Friday morning, during which he allegedly attempted to assault a woman inside one of the homes. Authorities suspect that he may have tried to attack another female victim in Evanston about an hour prior.
According to police reports, the break-ins took place between 2 and 3 a.m. on the 2000 block of West Lunt Avenue. In one instance, the intruder broke into a home by forcing open a basement window while dressed only in a towel and reportedly assaulted a woman in her bathroom. Thankfully, she managed to fend him off, causing him to escape through a first-floor window.
A similar incident, which unspooled about an hour earlier, was reported by a woman in Evanston who described an attempted sexual assault by a man with a similar profile. Fortunately, the victim was able to resist the attack as well.
Chicago police released surveillance images of the suspect on Friday, describing him as a Hispanic male, aged 19 to 25, thin, with a height ranging from 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 7 inches, and medium-length curly hair. At one point, he was seen wearing a black hoodie with âUSMCâ in gold lettering on the back, along with light-colored pants and a light hoodie tied around his waist.
Officers have recovered items, including a backpack and shoes, which may aid in linking the suspect to these crimes.
