By the President of the United States of America
A Proclamation
In a solemn tribute to the legacy of His Holiness Pope Francis, and in accordance with the powers vested in me as President of the United States by our esteemed Constitution and applicable laws, I hereby mandate that the flag of the United States be flown at half-staff. This directive extends to the White House, all public buildings and grounds, military installations, and naval vessels under the Federal Government’s jurisdiction throughout the District of Columbia, the states, and our territories. This honor shall remain in effect until sunset on the day of his interment. Furthermore, I instruct that the flag is to be similarly displayed at all U.S. embassies, legations, consulates, and military facilities abroad, ensuring a global show of respect during this period of mourning.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have set my hand this twenty-first day of April, in the year of our Lord two thousand twenty-five, marking the two hundred forty-ninth year of American independence.
