Virtual Avatars: The Future of Remote Work

Imagine being able to join a Zoom call from anywhere in the world, without anyone knowing your true whereabouts. Thanks to a groundbreaking new startup called Pickle, this is now a reality. By simply submitting a five-minute training video of yourself, Pickle can create an avatar that can be used to attend virtual meetings on your behalf. Whether you’re lounging in a hammock sipping a margarita or stuck in traffic, your avatar can make it seem like you’re present in the office.

Currently available for MacOS users, Pickle promises to release a Windows version next month. The service is compatible with popular conferencing apps such as Zoom, Google Meet, and Teams, giving users a wide range of options for virtual meetings. However, due to high demand, there may be delays in generating clones of avatars.

Offered in three different versions – basic, standard, and pro – Pickle’s services range from $300 to $1,150 per year. While the demo video showcases the potential of this technology, there are still some kinks to work out, especially when it comes to using the service in unconventional locations like a beach club.
