Brandon Sheets, son of Darrell Sheets, delivered a heartfelt tribute to his father during a celebration of life ceremony. The event took place on Monday, June 29, at the Hyatt Regency in Huntington Beach, California.
In an exclusive statement to Us Weekly, Storage Wars co-star Laura Dotson described Brandonâs presence at the memorial. âHe was like a pillar. [He was] stellar, he was strong. He reminds me of his father so much,â Laura remarked. She noted that Brandon shares his father’s humor and often uses the phrase âThatâs the wow factor, baby,â which instantly brings Darrell to mind.
Laura and her husband, Dan Dotson, attended the service and shared that Brandon, 42, spoke about the profound influence Darrell had on his life. âHe got to talk about him being a wonderful father, grandfather, and friend, and how much Darrell really helped him through his life, becoming the man that he is, and the father that he is,â Laura recalled.
Brandon, who has two children with his wife Melissa, is also a brother to Tiffany. Tiffanyâs daughter Zoie, 22, whom Darrell helped raise, was present at the memorial. Laura mentioned, âShe seems to be doing really well. She has so much support.â
The gathering was attended by Darrellâs sisters, brothers, extended family, and friends. Laura observed that many of them bore a resemblance to Darrell.
Among those present was Darrellâs ex-wife Kimber Wuerfel, with whom he was from 2011 to 2016. Laura and Dan noted that Kimber was âright up at the frontâ and âso accommodatingâ with Darrellâs family. Laura said, âEverybody was so concerned for her and her health, but she looked strong.â Kimber was attentive to everyone, sharing stories and expressing love, which seemed to bring her comfort.
Kimber also took the opportunity to speak at Darrellâs celebration, reminiscing about the cherished moments they shared.
Laura commented on the emotional atmosphere during the speeches honoring Darrell. âI did see tears and breakdowns from all of them,â she said. Attendees would comfort each other with hugs and prayers, then share laughter over fond memories. âWe know that Darrell is with God. We know heâs in heaven,â they would express, finding peace in their belief.
Earlier this year, Us confirmed that Darrell, known as âThe Gambler,â died at age 67. The Mohave County Medical Examinerâs Office in Arizona ruled his death a suicide.
âWe are saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family, Darrell âThe Gamblerâ Sheets,â A&E said in an April statement to Us. âOur thoughts are with his family and loved ones during this difficult time.â
