Cardi B certainly speaks her mind, whether she’s performing, in a courtroom, or engaging with fans online. It’s no surprise that the 33-year-old rapper is straightforward about her experiences with motherhood as well.
When discussing her children, Cardi’s face lights up, and she readily advocates for mothers, particularly those navigating motherhood for the first time. “Every minute of the day there’s a new mom being born,” she shared with Vogue.
During a conversation over Zoom, I found Cardi to be even more relatable than anticipated. She was at home without makeup, took time to address her kids’ queries during our chat, and shared her exhaustion from a sleepless night with her teething 13-month-old daughter, Blossom. At one point, she even laid down on her bed—what mom can’t relate to that?
Recently, Cardi has kept herself exceptionally busy. Just last month, she launched her new album Am I the Drama?, which soared to the top of the Billboard charts. This achievement made her the first female rapper to achieve this with her first two albums. She’s been promoting the album in the subway and on the streets. She even found time to celebrate her birthday.
The upcoming mother of four has always been open about her life. Now, she’s using her influence to advocate for other women managing sleep deprivation, unsolicited parenting advice, and the stress of creating perfectly curated lunches.
Announced today, Cardi is collaborating with infant formula company Bobbie to spotlight critical issues like maternal mortality and insufficient paid leave, while also empowering mothers to feel confident in their choices regarding how they feed their babies. This partnership marks Cardi’s first experience working with a baby brand, a cause she feels strongly about after facing challenges with milk production and moments of postpartum depression.
