The fourth round of Wimbledon 2025 witnessed some major upsets and unexpected exits as top players like Emma Navarro, Grigor Dimitrov, Andrey Rublev, and Alex de Minaur were eliminated from the tournament. Despite their early exits, these players walked away with a respectable sum of £240,000 (approx. $327,000) each.

Emma Navarro, who reached the quarterfinals last year, suffered a defeat in the fourth round this time, losing to Mirra Andreeva. Grigor Dimitrov was on the verge of a significant upset against World No. 1 Jannik Sinner but had to retire due to a right pectoral muscle injury. This marked his fifth consecutive mid-match retirement from a Grand Slam event.

Alex de Minaur started strong against Novak Djokovic but couldn’t maintain his momentum as the Serbian player came back to win the match. Andrey Rublev also tasted defeat after taking the first set against two-time defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Marin Cilic had a remarkable run at Wimbledon 2025, defeating fourth seed Jack Draper before falling to Flavio Cobolli in the fourth round. Elise Mertens put up a good fight against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka but was ultimately defeated in straight sets.

Other players like Ekaterina Alexandrova, Lorenzo Sonego, Jordan Thompson, Nicolas Jarry, Jessica Bouzas Maneiro, Kamil Majchrzak, Sonay Kartal, Linda Noskova, Solana Sierra, and Clara Tauson also exited the tournament in the fourth round, each earning £240,000 (approx. $327,000) for their efforts.

Overall, the fourth round of Wimbledon 2025 was filled with surprises and intense matches, showcasing the competitive nature of the sport. As players head into the quarterfinals, the competition is expected to get even more intense, with only the best of the best remaining in the tournament.
