Teddy Swims is reflecting on how fatherhood has transformed his perspective.
“Being present in various situations has become significantly more important,” the 33-year-old “Mr. Know It All” singer shared with Us Weekly during a discussion about his collaboration with White Claw. “I realize now that being grounded and aware of where I am is crucial. Every action I take carries more purpose.”
In June 2025, Swims and his former partner Raiche Wright welcomed their son Theodore, now 13 months old. Earlier this month, Swims announced their separation while debuting his new track, “Break Up in Reverse.”
Swims is aware that he won’t witness all of his son’s key moments, so he is keen on cherishing the special times they do share.
“I feel largely unchanged from a year ago in many ways, yet he’s evolving every day,” Swims reflected. “Witnessing the passage of time, its brevity, and how limited it is feels both frightening and amazing.”
Swims mentioned that this new outlook helps him value small moments with his son.
“Sometimes, just sitting with him while he does nothing is the most worthwhile thing. It means being present, not distracted by my phone,” he noted. “When I talk to him, I make sure to look him in the eyes. He wants you to be there, to see him, and often checks if you’re watching. That has become the most significant thing for me.”
Though he admits it might sound “cheesy,” Swims genuinely wants to “make the time count” and “celebrate those little wins.”

“My son has really helped me slow down and cherish real moments,” he told Us, adding that social media often makes it seem like others have everything figured out. “In the age of social media, you often compare yourself to others and their achievements or the perfect lives they portray. It’s exhausting.”
When Swims is away on tour and cannot physically be with his son, he makes it a point to connect with him through video calls.
“I miss him, but I FaceTime him every chance I get,” he shared with Us. “With the time difference in several places, I try to catch him during meals. With a toddler, you might get a minute and a half of attention, but he’s always happy to see me.”
Swims recognizes that not everyone in his position has the same privilege of staying connected with their children.
“There are others in my profession who can’t talk to or see their kids at all, so I’m incredibly thankful for the chance to see him, even virtually,” he remarked.

While on his international The Ugly Tour, Swims has also collaborated with White Claw to embrace the summer vibe. The collaboration features a limited-edition collection that includes a bear-shaped pool float, a hoodie, and a T-shirt. The pool float is designed to match Swims’ punk-rock aesthetic and includes a waterproof Bluetooth speaker, a cooler, and cup holders.
“I’m really excited about the float; it’s pretty cool,” Swims told Us. “It features a big bear with a mustache, a cooler for your drinks, cup holders, and a waterproof Bluetooth speaker. It’s got everything you need for poolside relaxation or even in your bathtub if you like.”
Swims feels the partnership with White Claw is perfectly aligned with his focus on cherishing small moments with loved ones.
“White Claw represents the ideal scenario for this, focusing on being present with those you care about,” he explained. “It’s about making the most of that time, especially as I watch my little one grow so quickly.”
Swims’ collection will be available exclusively at whiteclaw.com on Thursday, July 16, at 9 a.m. ET, while supplies last.
