Benchmarking Android phones is a common practice among tech enthusiasts to gauge the performance of their devices. At Tech Advisor, we conduct numerous tests to evaluate the raw power, graphical performance, and battery life of various Android phones. If you’re interested in conducting similar tests at home to compare your phone’s performance with others, we’ll guide you through the process.

Before delving into benchmark testing, it’s essential to understand that while benchmarks offer valuable insights, they should not be the sole criteria for judging a phone’s performance. Real-world usage scenarios play a significant role in determining how well a phone performs on a day-to-day basis. Benchmarks serve as an objective way to compare your phone against others in specific situations.

To conduct benchmark tests on your Android phone, you will need a few apps to run the tests effectively. Here are the essential apps we use for benchmarking:

### Geekbench 6 for Android
The Geekbench app allows you to test the performance of your phone’s System on Chip (SoC). By assessing both single-core and multi-core activities, Geekbench provides a comprehensive analysis of your phone’s CPU performance. To test the CPU performance, download the Geekbench app on your phone and follow these steps:

1. Open Geekbench
– Tap on the “Run CPU Benchmark” option to initiate the test.
– Ensure your phone is not in a power-saving mode to obtain accurate results.

2. Check the results
– After the benchmark is complete, review the scores for Single and Multi-core performance.
– Explore detailed performance insights under the Result tab to compare your phone with other models.

### GFXBench for Android
GFXBench is a vital tool for testing the GPU performance of your Android phone, which directly impacts gaming capabilities. Follow these steps to test GPU performance using GFXBench:

1. Select benchmark tests
– Enable the desired tests under Test selection, excluding offscreen versions for accurate results.
– Run the selected tests by tapping the Start option.

2. Check the results
– Review the scores for each test and compare your phone’s performance with other devices using the Compare option.

### PCMark for Android
To evaluate battery life on your Android phone, PCMark offers a detailed battery monitoring benchmark. Here’s how to run the benchmark:

– Install the Work 3.0 battery life test within the PCMark app.
– Run the Work 3.0 test to assess your phone’s battery performance.

Conducting these benchmark tests can provide valuable insights into your phone’s performance across different areas. Whether you’re assessing CPU speed, GPU capabilities, battery life, or charging speeds, benchmarking helps you understand your device’s strengths and weaknesses. If the results are not up to your expectations, it might be time to consider upgrading to a newer model.
