Google is gearing up to launch Android 16 with its own special event called The Android Show: I/O Edition. The event is set to take place a week before the full Google I/O 2025 developer conference, possibly to give more time to discuss Gemini AI during the main keynote.
The Android 16 launch event is scheduled for May 13th at 10am PST, which translates to 1pm EST and 6pm BST (UK time). The live stream will be available on the official Android YouTube channel, but for your convenience, we have embedded the live stream below.
While Google has not revealed much about the event, they have mentioned that it will feature Sameer Samat, President of Android Ecosystem, and the Android team. Attendees can expect to be the first to learn about innovative new experiences, including the new features of Android 16 and the new Material 3 Expressive user interface design. Android 16 will be available on Pixel phones and tablets, as well as third-party Android devices.
In the meantime, you can watch a 30-second trailer for the event and learn how to watch the main Google I/O keynote live stream. Stay tuned for more updates on Android 16 and its exciting new features.
