Curators are essential in today’s constantly evolving world as they examine contemporary cultural, sociopolitical, and technological changes, facilitate interdisciplinary discussions, and shape critical dialogue. The Hyundai Blue Prize+ serves as a platform for curators to explore pressing issues within the context of Asia. This initiative invites emerging curators worldwide to submit exhibition proposals for Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing as part of the Hyundai Blue Prize+ 2025 open call.
Interested applicants are required to submit a curatorial statement, a proposed list of artworks, an initial exhibition design, a budget plan, and a framework for public programs related to the exhibition. The proposed exhibition should be tailored for the second-floor gallery space at Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing, with the understanding that it will be displayed for a minimum of five to six months. Individual curators or collectives are eligible to apply, and the deadline for submissions is June 8, 2025.
Hyundai Blue Prize was initiated by Hyundai Motor in 2017, supporting emerging curators through various programs. In 2025, the initiative expands into Hyundai Blue Prize+ with a focus on transcending boundaries, promoting interdisciplinary research, and fostering transcultural dialogues.
Hyundai Blue Prize+ 2025 is overseen by an international jury panel consisting of esteemed individuals such as Jochen Eisenbrand, Carol K. Huh, Frances Morris, Christiane Paul, and Philip Tinari. Following the open call, five curators or collectives will be shortlisted and provided with mentorship, a research tour in China, and a $4,000 USD grant to develop their final proposal. Two final awardees will showcase their exhibition at Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing, receiving funding for production, implementation, on-site operations, marketing, and communications.
The application deadline for Hyundai Blue Prize+ 2025 is June 8, 2025, 11:59pm CST (GMT+8).
