I Tried Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 8. It’s Time to Pull the Plug – Tech Advisor

The Z Flip 8 appears to have been given minimal attention, highlighted by the absence of a more affordable ‘FE’ model this year. With minor upgrades and a significant price increase, there’s little incentive to purchase the new Flip unless you’re already a fan of previous versions.

Rumors suggest this could be the final Galaxy Z Flip, and if that’s the case, it’s not surprising. With Samsung showing no intention of resolving the Z Flip’s major issues, it might be time to retire the line.

Where are the upgrades?

Earlier this month, I discussed the 5 crucial upgrades the Z Flip 8 needed to avoid potential discontinuation. Unfortunately, none have been addressed by Samsung.

Having five glaring flaws is unacceptable

The only noticeable change was a relaxation of restrictions on the cover screen, resulting in a more intuitive user interface and additional optimized apps. However, running most third-party apps still requires unnecessary effort, which some users may be unaware of.

Additionally, the camera system remains without the essential telephoto lens, with no other enhancements. It still lacks adequate dust protection with an IP48 rating, meaning a trip to the beach could recreate the Z Fold 7 ordeal.

The most significant letdown, however, is the lack of battery enhancements. Although Samsung has transitioned to silicon-carbon (Si-C) technology, the capacity remains at 4300mAh, which is small by today’s standards and raises doubts about its ability to endure a full, demanding day.
