Despite the danger, David succeeds in finding Matthew, although Hayden still needs to be completely neutralized for their safety.
Why did Hayden kidnap Matthew in I Will Find You?
Matthew is alive and has been raised under a new identity by Hayden Payne. The series reveals that Hayden believes Matthew is his biological son due to a manipulated fertility procedure linked to Cheryl’s visit to a fertility clinic.
The kidnapping occurs after information related to Cheryl’s clinic visit, involving Rachel’s name, is intercepted. This results in a false DNA expectation that leads Hayden to assume Matthew is his son.
To maintain this illusion, Matthew’s “death” is staged by substituting another child’s body to make it appear as though David killed his own son. This allows Hayden to frame David and care for Matthew under a false identity, perpetuating the deception using money, power, and fabricated records.
What happens to David, Matthew, Cheryl, and Rachel at the end of I Will Find You?
In the final confrontation, Hayden attempts to escape with Matthew into the woods but is intercepted. David sustains injuries during the encounter, and Sarah Greer steps in to manage the situation. Shortly thereafter, the police secure the estate and its surroundings.
