The Illinois surgeon accused of the brutal murders of his ex-wife and her dentist husband has been extradited to Ohio and booked on murder charges. Michael McKee, 39, was captured by federal authorities at a Chick-fil-A near his Rockford medical practice on January 10, after being on the run for nearly two weeks. He was transferred to Ohio and booked in Franklin County Jail on Tuesday.
McKee’s new mugshot shows him wearing glasses and sporting an icy stare, a stark contrast to his previous demeanor. The killings of Monique Tepe and her husband Spencer Tepe were targeted, leaving their two young children without parents. McKee and Monique were married for two years before divorcing in 2017, after which she married Spencer in 2020.
The Tepes’ brother-in-law, Rob Misleh, revealed that McKee was emotionally abusive during his brief marriage to Monique. He described the torment and abuse she went through at the hands of McKee. Authorities allege that McKee sneaked into the victims’ Columbus home and gunned them down with a silencer in their bedroom, traveling around 325 miles to commit the heinous act.
The bodies were discovered after Spencer failed to show up for work and colleagues, concerned about his absence, rushed to the house. Frantic friends and colleagues called 911 after spotting a body through a window and hearing a child screaming. The couple was found dead inside, while their children were unharmed. McKee is facing aggravated murder charges and no bail has been set in the case.
The tragic deaths of the Ohio dentist couple have shocked the community, shedding light on the dark motives behind the senseless act of violence. As McKee awaits his trial, the families of the victims seek justice and closure for the devastating loss they have suffered.
