Garber, however, remains hopeful that her app will provide a sense of security for New Yorkers navigating the city streets.

“I don’t believe that we have to live in fear,” she said. “We have to come together and protect each other.”

Never Walk Alone NYC will offer a variety of safety features, including the ability to instantly connect with a buddy for a walk or schedule walks in advance. Users will also have the option to select specific preferences for their walking partner, such as gender or age.

Garber emphasized that the app is not just for women, but for anyone who wants to feel safer while walking in the city.

“This is about New Yorkers coming together and looking out for one another,” she said. “We can’t let fear dictate how we live our lives.”

As the app continues to develop, Garber hopes to expand its reach beyond Manhattan and into other boroughs of New York City. She envisions a future where Never Walk Alone NYC becomes a staple for city residents, providing a sense of community and safety in the bustling metropolis.

For now, she is focused on securing investors and launching the beta testing phase of the app. With the support of fellow New Yorkers and the drive to make a difference, Garber is determined to see Never Walk Alone NYC become a reality.

“We can’t let fear hold us back,” she said. “Together, we can create a safer, stronger city for all.”

As New Yorkers look towards a future of increased safety and security on the streets, Never Walk Alone NYC offers a beacon of hope in an uncertain world. With the power of community and technology, Garber’s vision of a safer city is within reach.

In light of recent events, the need for increased safety measures for women in society has become more apparent than ever. The unfortunate incident of someone getting stabbed in the neck only serves to highlight the urgency of the situation. It is clear that we need to do better in protecting and supporting women in our communities.

In response to this pressing issue, a new app called Never Walk Alone NYC is being developed to address the safety concerns of individuals, particularly women, while navigating the city. The app aims to provide a platform for users to connect with others and walk together in order to enhance safety and security.

To ensure the safety of its users, Never Walk Alone NYC will implement background checks and virtual interviews to screen potential users. This will help to prevent the app from falling into the wrong hands or being used by individuals with malicious intent. Additionally, the app will follow a “Citi Bike model,” coordinating meeting places by each subway station every hour for individuals to join and walk together.

Businesses, schools, and other institutions will also have the opportunity to subscribe to the app and customize their own meeting points. This will allow for tailored safety measures based on the specific needs of each organization. The app is expected to cost around $25 per month for individual users, with adjusted pricing for institutions based on company size.

Furthermore, groups with an in-house subscription will be able to use their own hiring or admittance process as a vetting tool, ensuring that only trusted individuals are part of the walking groups. As the app looks for private investors, there is also a hope to garner support from Mayor Eric Adams’ administration, with the potential for the app to become a multi-million dollar revenue generator for the city through advertising, subscriptions, and data mining.

In essence, Never Walk Alone NYC aims to provide increased safety, social opportunities, and health benefits through the simple act of walking together. It is a step towards creating a more secure and supportive environment for women in our society. With the right support and partnerships, this app has the potential to make a significant impact in improving the safety and well-being of individuals in our communities.
