In a Resounding ‘Renaissance,’ Conrad Jon Godly’s Acrylic Paintings Scale Alpine Peaks — Colossal

Conrad Jon Godly, a Swiss artist known for his stunning mountain landscape paintings, has returned to the art scene with his latest exhibition at JD Malat Gallery in London. Titled “RENAISSANCE,” this show marks Godly’s largest body of work to date after a four-year hiatus due to personal struggles. The title itself symbolizes his journey of overcoming adversity and experiencing a rebirth in his artistic practice.

In this new series, Godly showcases his mastery of thick acrylic paint on canvas to depict snow-capped peaks, cascading mountain springs, and ever-changing weather conditions. While he typically worked with oil paint in the past, Godly has now transitioned to acrylic, allowing for faster drying times and greater opacity in his compositions. Through the use of texture, form, and tonal shifts, he captures the ethereal beauty of the Swiss Alps with remarkable detail.

Godly’s paintings exude a sense of drama and intensity, drawing viewers in with their intricate brushwork and dynamic compositions. Up close, the works border on abstraction as the layers of paint create a mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow. Step back, and the scenes come into focus, revealing the crisp outlines of mountains, waterfalls, and stormy skies.

“RENAISSANCE” will be on display at JD Malat Gallery from December 12 to January 18, occupying both floors of the London space. For those unable to attend in person, Godly’s artwork can be explored further on his website and Instagram page. Don’t miss the opportunity to witness the breathtaking landscapes and emotional depth captured in Godly’s latest series.
