The White House characterized the press conference held by Trump with VP JD Vance as a clear indication that the administration was unified regarding the Iran conflict.
However, there have been reports suggesting that Vance was not entirely supportive of the war, being portrayed as doubtful about the operation.

Vance expressed conditional support for the war, stating that while he believed other presidents were foolish, he trusts Trumpās intelligence and thus aligns with him on this issue.
Vance’s reliance on Trump stems from his aspirations for the Oval Office, requiring Trump’s backing to secure the Republican nomination.
The press conference was less about JD Vance and more focused on Donald Trump.
In several inadvertently revealing responses, Trump displayed a perspective that has contributed to setbacks in Iran.

I donāt expect to thank you, but they should be thanking us. Japan gets 95% China, 91%. Many of the countries, South Korea gets a tremendous percentage of their oil and their, therefore their energy from the Straits, straits and or as they call it, the strait and they should be not only thanking us, they should be helping us. What does surprise me is that theyāre not eager to help. But there are some countries that greatly disappointed me, and Iām the one who got them to pay from 2% to 5% of GDP to NATO. And I get along great with those countries in NATO.
But I always said, the problem with NATO is weāll always be there for them, but theyāll never be there for us.
This is problem #1. Trump never attempted to build a coalition of support for action against Iran. He simply assumed that Americaās allies would support it.
They havenāt.
