Thinkspace Projects: A Hub for New Contemporary Art
Founded in 2005 by Shawn and Andrew Hosner, Thinkspace Projects is a prominent art gallery located in Los Angeles’s West Adams District. The gallery quickly gained recognition for its focus on New Contemporary art, also known as lowbrow art, which emerged in the 1990s as a response to the perceived elitism of the art world. The movement celebrates subjects like pop culture and subcultures that are often overlooked in traditional art circles.
The Hosners, who have been collecting art for decades, have curated an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, and collectibles by acclaimed artists. However, tragedy struck earlier this year when Shawn lost her battle with breast cancer. In an effort to keep the gallery afloat and continue Shawn’s vision, Andrew has organized an auction featuring pieces from their personal collection.
The auction will take place over two days, with the main event launching on September 12 at Los Angeles Modern Auctions. An online-only auction will follow on September 13. Art enthusiasts can preview the works from now until September 13 and bid on pieces by artists such as ROA, Kazuhito Kawai, Lisa Ericson, Banksy, En Iwamura, Brian Rochefort, and many more.
A portion of the proceeds from the auction will benefit the Keep A Breast Foundation in memory of Shawn. This charitable gesture reflects Shawn’s commitment to supporting artists and giving back to the community. To participate in the auction and support Thinkspace Projects, visit LAMA’s website and place your bids.
Thinkspace Projects has been a beacon for New Contemporary art, showcasing groundbreaking works and nurturing emerging talent. The gallery’s commitment to innovation and inclusivity has made it a vital part of the art scene in Los Angeles and beyond. Join the auction to own a piece of this legacy and contribute to the continuation of Shawn and Andrew Hosner’s vision for Thinkspace Projects.
