Pakistan’s army reported shooting down 25 military drones hovering over population centers, including the city housing Pakistan’s general army headquarters.

Residents in Indian border towns heard blasts by Thursday evening, prompting blackouts and calls for de-escalation between the Pakistani prime minister and Indian foreign minister.

India retaliated with missile attacks across Pakistan after gunmen killed Indian tourists, escalating tensions between the nuclear-armed nations.

Pakistani army condemned the Indian drones as a serious provocation and further escalation in a highly charged environment.

Operations were suspended at airports near the border, schools closed, and emergency checklists exchanged by parents in border areas.

The conflict began with an attack on Indian civilians in Kashmir, leading to retaliatory strikes and casualties on both sides.
