Singapore:
An elderly Indian man, aged 73, faced charges in a Singapore court on Monday for allegedly molesting four women during a Singapore Airlines (SIA) flight from the United States to Singapore.
The accused, Balasubramanian Ramesh, is said to have molested one of the women four times and targeted the other three women once each during the flight on November 18.
He was presented with seven molestation charges in a district court on Monday, as reported by The Straits Times.
The court documents do not disclose whether the women were passengers or crew members of the airline, and their identities are protected by a gag order.
Balasubramanian allegedly molested the first woman around 3:15 am and the second woman about five minutes later. He reportedly molested the second woman three more times between 3:30 am and 6 am.
He is also accused of outraging the modesty of a third woman at around 9:30 am and molesting the fourth woman at around 5:30 pm.
According to reports from the Singapore daily, he is expected to plead guilty on December 13.
Each count of molestation carries a maximum penalty of up to three years in jail, a fine, or caning, or a combination of these punishments.
However, Balasubramanian cannot be caned due to his age being over 50 years.
